Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2010

• Communion Service – 6:15 a.m. including distribution of ashes.

• Masses at 8:10 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.  Ashes will be distributed after the homily at each celebration.

Lenten Devotions

• Communion Services in Church at 6:15 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

• Daily Eucharist at 8:10 a.m.  Eucharist at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday. (Check Bulletin for schedule.)

• Stations of the Cross will be celebrated on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

• Stations by the Grade School will be on March 3.

• Stations by the High School will be on March 10.

Thursday March 11, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in church from 9 a.m. until 2:15 p.m.  We will close with Benediction.  High School and Grade School will be present during these hours.

Lenten Penance Schedule

Confessions:

Throughout Lent the regular times for confession are: 
7:30-7:50 a.m. Tuesday and Friday
3:30-4:15 p.m. Saturday

A Parish Communal Penance Service will be held Sunday, March 14 at 3:00 p.m.

 

A Day of Grace     Thursday, March 18  Confessions will be heard before the 8:10 Mass at 7:30 and from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.  A priest will be present to hear confessions on the hour for whoever is present and until there are no other penitents at that time.  He will return for the next hour and hear whoever is present and so on.

Community Lenten Services are scheduled at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at 12 Noon every Thursday during Lent, beginning on February 18.  Lunch follows the service.

Passion Sunday, March 28, 2010

• Masses at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and 7:30, 9:15 and 11:30 a.m. Sunday.  Palms will be blest at all Masses.  "The Palms should be taken home where they will serve as a symbol of the victory of Christ and well-being."

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

• 7:30 p.m. - Tenebrae
  This service recalls the suffering of Christ in the Garden of Olives and in his Passion.  This ceremony is held in semi-darkness with singing, prayer and scripture that enters into Christ’ sorrow and yet proclaims the resurrection.

Thursday, April 1, 2010

• 7:30 p.m. - Mass of the Lord’s Supper
  We begin the Sacred Triduum, the three Holy Days, with the washing of feet and the institution of the Holy Eucharist.  Ministers of Holy Communion will be commissioned at this Mass.  There will be time for private prayer before the Blessed Sacrament until 10:00 p.m.

• 12 Noon – Stations of the Cross by the 8th Grade

• 12:45 p.m. – Reflections in Song and Spoken Word by the High School

• 1:30 p.m. – Celebration of the Lord’s Passion, the second of the three holy days

• 7:30 p.m. – Celebration of the Lord’s Passion

Holy Saturday, April 3, 2010

• 8:00 p.m. – The Easter Vigil

The celebration of Christ rising from the dead and the reception of the Catechumens and Candidates into the Catholic Church.  This is the third day of the Sacred Triduum when Christ rises from the dead.  The Easter sacraments are given to those preparing to enter this faith community.  Join them for this final step in their journey.

Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010

Masses are at 7:30, 9:15 and 11:30 a.m.  This day completes the Paschal Mystery, the Sacred Triduum, the holy days of Christ’s suffering, death and resurrection.  We who have entered into the suffering and death with Jesus Christ shall also celebrate His triumphant rising from the dead.
