Our Mission: As the St. John the Evangelist Parish Family, we are to be Christ’s hand that invites and welcomes all who are looking for the caring and spiritual fulfillment present in the Eucharist and sacraments. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we will become active disciples in God’s work and through prayer, faith formation and our service to one another within the parish and greater community.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR...

Where do we encounter God?  One of my nieces told me when she was very young that God was everywhere.  Then she told me God was even in the woods but does not get poked by the branches and twigs in the woods.  Sometimes kids say the things that make us really think.  That is one of their great gifts to us.  God is everywhere but for all of us there seems to be a place where we feel really connected with God.  This could be in Church, in nature, with the family or in a quiet place.  God wants us to encounter Him in our lives.  This takes our effort to be aware of the Spirit of God who tugs at our lives and asks us to look deeper, to see with the eyes of faith.  God calls us to engage the holy, the presence of God in all the areas of our lives.  Take the time to encounter our God who loves us and wants us to be engulfed in God’s Spirit.  Where do you encounter God?  Take time to be there with God.

Health Ministries - Heart Month

Colorectal cancer has long been a disease cloaked in embarrassment and misunderstandings.  Some people think that colorectal cancer is not preventable, so they do not go to get screened.  With recommended screening, this cancer can be prevented or detected early, when it can be more easily treated.

A Family Perspective

An important way to ensure family closeness is by creating special family traditions.  While we all know people eat turkey on Thanksgiving, add something special to the day.  Perhaps, set aside a day for the entire family to play games, try playing something as simple as Bingo, where everyone will get a prize.  Another option would be to go out and do something new together.

Lenten Fish Dinners

The Knights of Columbus is offering delicious fish dinners each Friday during Lent.  As usual, they will be providing "eat in dinners" as well as "carry outs."  Dinners are served from 4:30 - 7 p.m. or until sold out.

Loving Well

Beth Moore, through her DVD's, will teach us that we need God to help us love ourselves and others, especially people that are difficult to love.  This event will be April 18, 1:00 - 5:00 pm at the K of C Hall with Mass following.  The day will be filled with love, humor, spirituality, music, door prizes, food, and the fellowship of people of all denominations in surrounding communities.  Reservations must be in by April 14.  Call 419-695-4050, ext 1117 for more information and to register.
